People keep asking for a Sample or draft letter of affiliation. I was a little hesitant about putting up an example, because there is such a variety of ways you can go about it depending on your proposal. Remember this format isn’t the only format. If you haven’t done so, please read the section on tips for the letter of affiliation.
SAMPLE/DRAFT LETTER OF AFFILIATION
[country], [date]
Dear Fulbright Committee,
[Intro you and the affiliation]
I am writing in support of [name here]’s research proposal in [country] in collaboration with [affiliation-organization, university, institution, etc]. The [affiliation…blah blah blah give an overview of the affiliation here. Remember you aren’t limited in space here, so you can give more info about the affiliation here than what is in your proposal. Ex. Blah is a non-governmental/non-profit organization created in 1993, which operates in Managua. The focus of our work, aims to build a healthy society—one where all citizens have equal access to resources that build quality of life: education, housing, preserved environment, employment and income, information, leisure and culture, sanitation, food, security, social participation and quality of health care services.
[possible second paragraph going into more detail about the affiliation…show off the affiliation] We promote community participation in designing and implementing health promoting projects. Our participatory strategies aim to strengthen communities to become active social leaders while generating health solutions with local resources. We basically act as a technical reference to be utilized by impoverished communities in their process of organization and development. We have worked with a network of over 150 communities throughout the state.
[now have the letter explain why you are a good fit with the affiliation]
Blah’s background in Public Health, Latin American Studies, and previous experience working on community organizing makes her an ideal candidate to partner with. [show how your goals fit their needs] The questions Blah is examining about the built environment are especially important to the field of public health and planning. [be as specific as possible…who will you be working with, where, doing what] Blah will be working with our lead organizer/researcher, blah blah, in evaluating community needs through an assessment of the built environment. Blah’s involvement will be key in producing blah blah blah.
[Show that you are wanted…included any details, such as…have research space, office computer, or whatever you need to carry out your research]
Our organization is looking forward to having Blah as an additional resource on our team. She would be working fully integrated with our staff and will have the necessary administrative support and resources to carry out her work.
Sincerely,
Blah Blah
